Friday morning Grundfos Petanque Club went to Wahlstedt in Northern Germany, and we arrived 11:30 hrs at Grundfos Wahlsted.

Breakfast at a pull-in near the German border. On the picture you see Gerd, Henry, Jĝrn, and Inger Marie

We were given a warm welcome by product manager Markus Lipp and secretary Margareta Martini.

After the welcome we were on a guided tour in the large production factory where 600 people are working. The production is mainly large UP pumps. It was a very clean factory, tidy and with a lot of light. There are many special machines, manufactured in Denmark. The factory was highly automatic which leaves only few things to lift and carry. The production is organized like the UP plant at home. After the tour we had lunch in the newly decorated canteen together with our guide.

In the afternoon we went to our hotel Gasthof-am-See in Warder which is a nice place between Bad-Segeberg and Lübeck. Friday night we spent in Bad-Segeberg which is the closest large city.

Watching the match carefully. In the background, some players have finished their first match and others ready to start their match.

Nothing is left to chance. It is better to measure one time too many, than not to do it.

Sunday: Guided tour in the old part of Lübeck. On Sunday morning, the previous managing director Klaus D. Hannemann has arranged a sightseeing tour in the old part of Lübeck with a Danish guide who has specialised in guided historical tours. It is an old Hanseatic town where also Danish kings have made their visits earlier. The old buildings are from the middle age and are well preserved such as the very beautiful townhall, and the oldest restaurant of the world "Schiffergesellschaft". The old town with the narrow streets and the houses with the gables to the street are still occupied by people living there and the town is a living museum. The small houses are for sale from time to time at sky-high prices. We saw also the Marzipan house and the famous town port "Holstentor" There was also time for a tour on the river Trave, which runs through Lübeck.

One of the small squares in the old part of Lübeck.

In the old part of the town there were some narrow paths to the back-houses. This passage was used by the pigs in old days to go into the streets to find something to eat in the gutter. They were called pig paths.

A look from one of the nice clean streets.

The houses in Lübeck are very nice.

The group in front of the big church of Lübeck.

A look into an old convent. Behind the white doors there was only room for a bed and a small table for one nun.

Bjarne is holding the devil in his ear, so he will be good while we are in the town.

It is nice to be able to see how far you are with the cleaning.

A view from the channels surrounding the old part of Lübeck. It is also possible to get a trip with the boat on the channel.

Very nice, see the blue sky without a single cloud, the weather is just fine.

A view towards the bus parking place in the new part of Lübeck

Many tourists come to Lübeck every day. It is a town worth visiting both summer and winter. The town has a large Christmas fair in December.

It is refreshing to get something to drink in the lovely warm weather.

Relaxing is nice.
